Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 750ml:

Dynax-S50 is a high-performance anti-corrosion wax that provides exceptionally long-lasting protection to steel surfaces. It creeps into welded seams and seals surface defects. Dynax-S50 forms a soft, brown, wax-like film that self-heals in the event of disruption. It is also able to arrest existing corrosion and to provide long-term protection to pre-corroded and corrosion-free surfaces.

Dynax-S50 has been proven to substantially outperform competitive material in salt-spray trials under conditions of ASTM B117.

Dynax-S50’s soft-film is optimised for enclosed cavities where extremely corrosive conditions develop. Dynax-S50 is also recommended for protection of valuable machinery and components in transit, machine tools, moulds etc. Dynax-S50 can be removed using suitable solvent. Dynax-S50 is not formulated for prolonged exposure to ultra-violet (UV) light.

The advanced metal seeking anti-corrosion molecules which form Dynax-S50 are able to displace water, so even damp surfaces can be protected, these same molecules arrest and prevent corrosion even on already rusty surfaces and provide remarkable self-healing abilities if the film is damaged. Whilst Dynax-S50 is primarily a cavity rustproofing compound it’s also able to prevent corrosion in a multitude of mud traps and water collecting voids. Dynax-S50 has been used with superb results to protect voids and cavities in steel boats, vessels, offshore installations and other steel structures subject to severely corrosive atmospheres.

A Comparison:

Dynax-S50 is designed to protect steel surfaces in extreme conditions. It’s well known that vehicle cavities are subject to a wide-range of corrosive environments, from salt spray to high humidity, heat, fresh water and freezing. The cavity wax chosen must cope with all these variables and continue to provide the necessary protection – maintaining the structural integrity, safety, and value of the vehicle. It’s common for manufacturers of cavity waxes to quote salt-spray results in hours for their cavity waxes and while the salt-spray test is severe it’s been shown that waxes with very good salt-spray performance can rapidly deteriorate when the environment changes, for example after a period of constant salt-spray they swell become bloated and detach from the surface in an atmosphere of high humidity alone. Dynax-S50 has been proven to provide outstanding salt-spray protection and continuing protection in changing conditions with no swelling or detachment whatsoever. You’ll see below how Dynax-S50 compared with two extremely well known cavity waxes in constant salt spray trials.

Penetration Tests:

If you decide to treat your car or vehicle to additional corrosion treatment it’s important to select a cavity wax that can penetrate into welded flange seams – these are the areas proven to be the first to corrode – in fact the Swedish Corrosion Institute conducted a thorough investigation into vehicle corrosion by sawing open the bodies of 845 collision-damaged cars manufactured between 1994 and 1997, the corrosion observed in the flanges and seams resulted in the recommendation that even on cars with reasonably good cavity fluid treatment applied at the factory a complementary treatment be used within 3-4 years of manufacture. This investigation also proves, despite popular belief, that modern cars just like classic and vintage ones require after market rust proofing.

Dynax-S50 has a high solids content – over 50%, it’s this content that forms the anti-corrosion coating, and whilst other high solids materials don’t penetrate sufficiently Dynax-S50 creeps by capillary action deeply into seams, flanges and folded edges, in side-by-side trials Dynax-S50 has been proven to creep significantly further than other cavity waxes, some with solids contents as low as 25%.

How to use:

Use a brush, roller or spray to apply Dynax-S50. Atomisation into enclosed cavities and voids is recommended to ensure thorough coverage of all surfaces. Dynax-S50 contains highly polar corrosion inhibitors that are able to displace surface moisture; very wet surfaces should be pre-treated using Bilt-Hamber Ferrosol.

Dynax-S50 aerosols require no compressor or additional equipment.

Dynax-S50 is also available in 5 litre tubs to 200 litre drums and upwards for spray application, for those without access to professional wax injection equipment Bilt-Hamber Laboratories have developed a superb system enabling Dynax-S50 to be applied at high pressure simply, quickly and without mess. The pressurised giant-sized Dynax-S50 aerosol dispenser accepts interchangeable heads: The 60cm cavity injection lance has a precision fluid-tip to deliver, at high-pressure, a dense, finely atomised circular mist of Dynax-S50 ensuring 360 degree coverage of box sections and cavities. For accessible areas the extension tube is removed and a solid-cone spray pattern actuator simply clipped in its place. The pressurised aerosol dispensers contain a useful 750 ml (3/4 of a litre) of material.

Dynax-S50 is tolerant of a broad range of application pressures and will form a coherent film upon application. Dynax-S50 will increase in viscosity at low storage temperatures.

It is recommended to place the container in a room at around 15 degrees C for 24 hours prior to use, particularly when using low pressure equipment for spray application.

For non-aerosol dispensed Dynax-S50, warming the container (loosen cap first) by standing in a hot water bath will further reduce viscosity and is beneficial where deep crevice protection is required. Never heat aerosol dispensed product. Ensure that cavities are left unclosed for a period of 48 hours to allow the escape of carrier materials before bunging or stopping.

Dynax-S50 will provide excellent protection at a wide-range of film thickness – aim to achieve a uniform dry-film thickness of around 50 microns. The tolerance of the material to maintain protection at very low film thickness makes Dynax-S50 the ideal choice where surface inspection is not easy or where uniform coatings are simply not possible.

Bilt Hamber Dynax UB 750ml:

Dynax-UB is a high-performance anti-corrosion wax that provides exceptionally long-lasting protection to steel surfaces.

Dynax-UB contains elastic polymers that create a tougher wax coating that is more resistant to abrasion than normal wax coatings – this property enables this wax to protect vehicle undersides for prolonged periods.

Unlike traditional bitumen underseals Dynax-UB will not peel. Peeling underbody coatings trap water against the steel surface, accelerating corrosion.

Dynax-UB forms a touch-dry, brown, wax-like film.

Dynax-UB is able to arrest existing corrosion and to provide long-term protection to pre-corroded and corrosion-free surfaces.

Dynax-UB substantially outperforms competitive material in salt-spray trials under conditions of ASTM B117. Salt-spray performance should never be overlooked as vehicle undersides and cavities are always exposed to this attack from winter road salt.

How to use:

Use a brush or roller to apply Dynax-UB. Dynax-UB should be applied to dry surface free of loose, flaky rust or coatings, although the highly polar corrosion inhibitors will arrest existing corrosion.

Dynax-UB will vary in viscosity with temperature; it may appear to have a soft grainy appearance to firm gel. Apply at least two coats to the surface at 24 hr intervals. This first primes the surface and allows subsequent coats to build higher film thickness.

Dynax-UB will provide excellent protection at a wide-range of film thickness. Aim to achieve a uniform dry-film thickness of around 80 – 100 microns.

Bilt Hamber Dynax UC 750ml:

Dynax-UC is a new high-performance anti-corrosion wax that provides a low film thickness, almost transparent protective shield. It’s firm, wax-like film is rich in unique metal-seeking corrosion inhibitors that halt existing and prevent new corrosion.

Dynax-UC can be applied to bare metal or painted surfaces, anywhere where a discrete and powerful inhibitor is needed.

Dynax-UC is completely safe to use on the vast majority of paint coatings and is ideal where dark coloured waxes or underseal would detract from the painted finish of vehicle bodywork or underside.

The touch dry tough wax film provides mechanical protection to the protected surface too. Dynax-UC is the ideal product to provide high levels of protection during the winter months. Use on lower body panels, chassis, floors, sills, jacking points, chrome, suspension, fixings, wheel arch lips, alloy wheels. Dynax-UC is perfect for protecting motorcycles, alloys, aluminum, boats, mowers, machinery, tools and equipment too!

Dynax-UC can be easily removed if required with simple solvent wipes or alkaline degreasers after the aggressive winter months pass, or left in place for prolonged protection.

The 750ml aerosols are equipped with a unique valve. Cans are charged to 70 psi and work on their side and even upside down.

How to use:

The corrosion inhibitors in Dynax-UC are able to protect clean and corroded steel alike, however this is a low film thickness material and where possible surfaces should be cleaned.

Under bodies will benefit from steam cleaning or power washing, using our Surfex-HD degreaser/ all-purpose cleaner will provide great results, the surface should be well rinsed with plenty of clean water and then dried. For best results, the surfaces should be wiped over with white spirit or similar.

Apply Dynax-UC in fine coats, film thickness should be built in this way rather than a single heavy coat. At around 50 microns dft (dry film thickness), Dynax-UC remains virtually transparent.

The product will cure to its final firmness after 24-96 hours, although the vehicle can be used after just 30 minutes if required. The dry film is as firm as candle wax and once fully cured will resist dirt pick-up when compared to other wax protection film.

If required, the film can be removed after winter or before shows with suitable degreaser such a Surfex-HD (used hot) or simple solvent wiping.

Multi Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser (APC):

With increasing restrictions on the use of solvent-containing degreasers and cleaners safer, water-based materials have been developed.

However, it has been difficult to match the performance of the solvent-containing systems and increasing environmental restrictions on the ranges of acceptable water-based actives and have further tested the formulators’ ability.

Surfex-HD provides performance levels that match and even exceed solvent systems, while meeting the latest standards of biodegradability.

Surfex-HD attacks all oil and grease based soiling, but unlike solvent based cleaners will additionally and effortlessly clean organic, or water deposited grime.

Surfex-HD can be adjusted in strength to suit the level of soil, remaining active at levels of just 1 part to 200 in water for light work, or used neat for extreme duty work.

Surfex-HD is recommended for all arduous automotive, commercial and domestic cleaning duties.

It can be used on exterior and interior surfaces, paint, alloy wheels, tyres, fabric, carpets and most surfaces. Spot tests are always advisable.

Surfex-HD can be sprayed, brushed or applied using pressure washer equipment.

A Comparison:

Surfex-HD contains zero VOCs, is biodegradable, non-toxic and pleasant to use, yet its ability to remove grease and oil based contamination exceeds many well-known solvent-based degreasers.

Using water-based degreasers allows the adjustment of strength to suit the job. Surfex-HD can be added to water at just 0.5% to form an effective cleaner for light application and increased in strength to neat if required for heavy industrial applications.

• Rinse surface with clean water.
• Always spot test before use.
